Unleash your Inner Barbie with Pops of Pink

While you may not want a perfectly pink dreamhouse like Barbie, a splash of pink is a great way to add some fun to your home décor. From baby pink to hot fuchsia, there are so many ways to perk up your home with pink.

Rachel Cannon is not afraid to go bold and bright. “I’m in favor of using any color in any way that puts a smile on your face, makes you feel at peace, or gives you that cozy feeling that home should give you,” Cannon says. “If pink is a favorite, then find a way to incorporate it, and even see if you can push yourself to make a bigger commitment than just a small accessory! I find that the items that take some convincing for our clients are always the ones they end up loving the most!”

These hot pink accessories catch your eye without taking over the entire room. Cannon’s choice of artwork opens the door for all kinds of color and brings the room together seamlessly.

Cannon remembers, “Our client’s exact request for this room with the pink chairs was ‘I want color, color, color!’ I took that as an indication that maximalism was not off the table. I started with the wallpaper, which features so many different colors, it was easy to create a story around it. The pink chairs reference a very small sliver of this color on one of the birds in the paper.”

Designer Barry Goralnick has mastered the subtle pink technique. “I love pink in combination with other colors – especially browns and grays,” he says. “I prefer to use pink sparingly, unless I am asked to design something for Barbie.” Even a pastel pink is enough to brighten up a room. If you’re like Goralnick and want to stay away from Barbie levels of pink, don’t let it stop you from getting creative!

“The client is an actress and she wanted a lively, pastel apartment. She told me she loved the idea of a box of marzipan.” The contrast of the dark black counter with light pink wallpaper makes this bathroom feel alive and comfortable.

This bedroom is very pink, but it still feels soft and cozy. Goralnick’s use of light shades of color make the room feel alive without being too bright.

Miretta Interiors is another designer that makes a little pink go a long way. The light shade of the wallpaper pairs nicely with the beige window shades and white tones of the tub and floor. Together the colors create an airy feel to make this bathroom a temple of relaxation.
