Growing up with strong roots deep in the Pennsylvanian Amish community Jake and Janelle set up a family home filled with love, laughter and babies along the Millstream in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They took in their surroundings and found a lack of heirlooms from their family heritage. Jake and Janelle started to ponder, “What gives an object value? What makes something an heirloom? If we didn’t have something on the shelf we could point toward, could we start now?” And the vision of Millstream Home was born. Their curated collection of heritage goods gives everyone the chance to shop with family legacy in mind.

Fulfilling the Vision of Heritage Goods

They wondered if they could design heritage goods and treasures and have their local community of artisans manufacture them. “Beautiful things we could use and pass down, and begin the journey of an item on a shelf to an item cherished, an heirloom in the making.” By 2016 the couple had started scouring back roads near and far to source the “most talented and timeless makers still using historic production methods.” Jake and Janelle have been diligent and meticulous in the crafting of these goods and encouraging the craft and story behind these makers.

A Heritage of Craftsmanship

Purchasing treasures from Millstream Home directly supports each family and their heritage as Makers. From basket weavers and quilters to leather makers and blacksmiths and beyond. These makers have spanned generations and passed down historic production methods as the years go by. Each piece is mindfully made in the home or shed, all in a traditional hard days work.

Our collection is dedicated to the belief that your products should last longer than a season.
