Are you tempted to try a darker look in a room or two? With all shades of green making a resurgence in home décor, it certainly is a color to contemplate.

We asked the experts at Farrow & Ball for their insights on shades that work well with a dark green, such as its Bancha No. 298.

“This mid-century modern green is a darker version of the much-loved archive color, Olive. Perfect for those who want to embrace stronger color in the home, its sober tone creates rooms that feel calm and serene—especially when combined with soft pinks and browns. Named after Japanese tea leaves, Bancha, like a cup of green tea, provides a feeling of security.”

Dark greens can also be paired with soft cream or tan, a French gray or bright white. And, if you’re not quite ready to paint a full room, how about an accent wall, the ceiling, or interior and exterior doors?

Bancha Buddies

The paint experts at Farrow & Ball recommend these complementary colors with Bancha:

  • Hay No. 37
  • James White No. 2010
  • Oval Room Blue No. 85
  • Setting Plaster No. 231
  • Salon Drab No. 290
