With the holidays come holiday guests. So you’ll want to plan for accommodating those christmas guests who are spending this special time of year with you. But updating your guest rooms during the Christmas season is a bit different than the usual affair. Not only will you want the bed to be refreshed you should infuse their stay with a little bit of Christmas cheer.

Interior designer Ashley Frank’s bedroom comes alive in the winter with it’s very own petite Christmas tree, fresh garland and seasonal touches.

Make it Festive

A small tree is a fun way to make the room feel special. A lighted tree can even function as a night light! If you’re short on space a mini tabletop tree on the nightstand is a nice touch. Have holiday magazines, book and music available in the room. This time of year your friends and family likely want to soak up the spirit of the season in every way.

Interior designer Kate Lester gave this coastal cottage a sweet and simple holiday touch with a festive wreath over the window above the bedroom’s built-in window seat.

Incorporate the Senses

Fresh pine or cedar garland or even a fresh wreath hung over a mirror or window will bring in the scents of the season. Moreover, natural scents like those from live greenery can even have a calming effect leading to even more restful sleep. Consider adding a seasonal candle by the bed as a thoughtful touch for your Christmas guests, too.

The Modern Dane’s organic linens are not only extremely cozy tot he touch, they are sustainably and ethically made.

Spring for the Best Linens

Holiday travel can be stressful enough. This time of year is a great time to upgrade your guest room linens and ensure they are extra soft and cozy. Incorporate a few extra pillows and leave a set of good towels on the bed. Christmas guests that have everything they need are more comfortable and feel more at home because they don’t have to ask the host for everything. And you free up time for yourself to make a nice weekend breakfast or plan some local excursions.

Today we’ve got a gorgeous illustration by Lauren Rebbeck as your free printable. Print it on fabric transfer paper to crate your own holiday linens. It can be used on a tea towel, or pillowcase– let your imagination run wild! Just make sure you sign up for our 12 days of Cottage Christmas Newsletters to get access to all our free printables!
