A metamorphosis happens right before our very eyes as Winter gives way to Spring with fresh abundant color everywhere we look.
It is a time of renewal…. we feel energized by the sunshine, warm weather, and spending time outdoors once again.
Here in the South, we are fortunate to have many weeks of outdoor living and entertaining. Living lakeside has been such a wonderful new experience for us. We enjoy sitting dockside sipping our morning coffee near the water, watching the geese, Blue Heron, turtles, and fish fill the cove as Spring commences.
The first spaces I typically “spruce up” are the patio and boathouse because we spend so much time there. After a thorough cleaning, I anchor the wicker furniture with a fresh outdoor rug which adds color and feels cozy underfoot. Colorful solid and print pillows in pastel pink and blue, a bird motif, and a soft animal print add a cheerful bit of charm for Spring.

Lisa’s Lemon Bars:
Crust:
1 ⅓ c. Flour
¼ c. Sugar
½ c. butter softened
Filling:
¾ c. Sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. flour
¼ tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Powdered sugar for dusting
Step 1: Combine crust ingredients. Beat on low until crumbly. Press into an 8-inch square pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Step 2: Combine filling ingredients and pour over hot crust. Continue baking for 18-20 minutes or until filling is set. Sprinkle with powdered sugar while warm and again when cool. Enjoy!
